Message from Fr. Tom
My sincere
thanks to the entire parish for making my Golden Jubilee such a wonderful
Celebration. I’m still recovering.
I express
special thanks to our Pastoral Council members for their initiative in
organising the day and to the countless volunteers who helped with all the
details, not to mention those who donated all the wonderful food.
My family
are as amazed as I am. Thank you for such affirmation.
Fr. Tom
Garda Notice
A number of
break-ins have occurred in the parish and in surrounding parishes in recent
times. This is of very serious concern to the Gardai and we are asking people
to be extra vigilant.
Make a note
of any car registration number if you have the slightest bit of suspicion and
please do not hesitate to contact the Gardai to check out that number.
Beware of
callers offering to do jobs…spray painting, patios, tarmacadam etc. Always
check these vehicle registration numbers and report them to the Gardai.
Be mindful
of keeping your own house and buildings as safe as possible by locking doors
and windows even if leaving for only a short time.
The Gardai
will always appreciate any assistance you can give in helping them solve this
present situation.

‘The People’s Prayers’ Book is a compilation of favourite prayers from some of Ireland’s best known celebrities and the people of North Clare. It was produced by the Transition Year students 2007/8 of Scoil Mhuire, Ennistymon. They undertook this project by writing to some of “Who’s Who” in Irish life and to the local people of North Clare, requesting them, to submit their favourite prayer/scripture reading and to give the reason why they chose it.
The project was in response to the work of two local retired teachers who were working as volunteers on Pemba Island, Tanzania, an area where the level of education is exceptionally low. Proceeds from the sale of this book will go towards the building of a nursery school there.

World Youth Day
World Youth Day
began in 1984 with a simple idea of the Pope meeting with a group of young
people. It has since captured the imagination of many people in many countries.
It consists of young people going on a modern pilgrimage to modern cities and
trying to search out some answers within the Church.
World Youth Days
are not small, millions attend them. In Ireland, WYD is probably the biggest
youth ministry event. It is now the most consistent event that young people
choose to attend. This weekend, a group from the Killaloe and Limerick Dioceses
will travel together to Sydney. Student, Emily Kirwan and one of the Group
Leaders, Deirdre Convey, from our own parish, are among them.
The celebrations
begin on Tues. with the Opening Mass. There are various events each day,
culminating with the Group walking across Sydney Harbour Bridge on Sat., for an
Evening Vigil with the Pope. They will sleep under the stars at the Southern
Cross Precinct on that night and wake up to hear the Sunday morning Mass
celebrated by Pope Benedict.
We pray that
their journey will be safe and fulfilling and a memory that will be special to
them forever.
The
Power of One
One
song can spark a moment,
One
flower can wake a dream.
One
tree can start a forest,
One
bird can herald Spring.
One
smile begins a friendship,
One
handclasp lifts a soul.
One
star can guide a ship at sea,
One
word can frame the goal.
One
vote can change a nation,
One
sunbeam lights a room.
One
candle wipes out darkness,
One
laugh will conquer gloom.
One
step must start each journey,
One
word must start each prayer.
One
hope will raise our spirits,
One
touch can show you care.
One
voice can speak with wisdom,
One
heart can know what’s true,
One
life can make the difference,
You
see, it’s up to you!
Best of Luck to Colin Lynch And Tony Griffin and
all the Clare Senior Team as the take on Tipperary in the Munster Final on this
Sunday. We wish a safe journey to all travelling to Limerick to the match.
